The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a cardiac arrest on Tripp Road in Chapel Hill, according to a release, just before 6 p.m. Tuesday night. When deputies arrived on the scene, emergency personnel “were giving the 8 year old victim CPR.”

EMS transported the child to UNC Hospital while officials were attempting to perform life-saving efforts, but the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
