After investigating the missing person report of a Pittsboro resident for several days, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office turned to the public for help on Thursday.

A release from the office Thursday afternoon said it is aiming to find 63-year-old David Bernard Gauthier, who was in a missing person report filed on August 23. The sheriff’s office said the report was made by a concerned friend of Gauthier’s, but their last confirmed contact with him dates back to April 13. Investigators found out he had not had any contact with family in 2023.

A spokesperson for the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed for Chapelboro that sheriff’s investigators looked into Gauthier’s disappearance and decided to now issue a public call to help bring more information forward.

Thursday’s release encouraged anyone with information on the whereabouts or well-being of Gauthier to contact the sheriff’s office’s non-emergency phone number (919-542-2811).
