Carrboro Police will not be filing criminal charges after a daycare worker was accused of breastfeeding a child in her care, even after the infant’s mother had objected.
Previous reports showed surveillance video of the worker at Carrboro Early School “adjusting her top” and bringing the three-month-old boy “to her chest to breastfeed him.”
The boy’s mother told multiple outlets she told another worker the child was constipated. Another woman working in the nursery then offered to breastfeed the boy to see if it would help. The mother reportedly twice told the daycare worker that she did not want that.
Day care director Daron Council said an employee reported what happened and the worker is no longer there.
Carrboro Police say the decision to not file charges came after an investigation and consultation with the local District Attorney’s office and the police department’s attorney.
