Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools students are getting a snow day on Thursday, according to school officials.
The system alerted families Wednesday night that due to inclement weather forecasted for Thursday, the CHCCS community will get a break from schooling.
“All CHCCS buildings and computers, including our learning centers at University United Methodist Church, Hargraves Center and the Chapel Hill Community Center, will be closed for students and staff,” the message said. “It’s a snow day, so please unplug, get away from your computers and enjoy your time.”
The district said all athletic events would be postponed, as will the scheduled virtual meet-n-greet with Superintendent Dr. Nyah Hamlett will be rescheduled. Interviews for the vacant seat on the CHCCS Board of Education will continue, according to Thursday’s message.
Additionally, both the Orange County Schools and Chatham County Schools districts told families Thursday would be held as a remote learning day for all students due to the inclement weather.
The Triangle region is under a Winter Weather Advisory from midnight through 8 a.m. on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
