Chatham County Schools recognized its 2026 Educators of the Year Thursday during its annual Educator Recognition Reception. Each honoree was nominated by colleagues and selected after a districtwide review.

Walter Johnson of Chatham Early College in Siler City was named the district’s Teacher of the Year. Several Pittsboro educators were honored: at Pittsboro Elementary, Emily Kinder was named Assistant Principal of the Year and Natalie Levy was named Beginning Teacher of the Year. Bradyn Robinson of Pittsboro’s George Moses Horton Middle School was named Principal of the Year. In Briar Chapel, Otis Patterson of Margaret B. Pollard Middle School was named Instructional Assistant of the Year.

“These exceptional educators represent the very best of Chatham County Schools,” said Superintendent Anthony Jackson, who will retire following the end of the school year. “Their passion, professionalism and unwavering commitment to students embody the spirit of ONE Chatham. We are proud to honor their contributions and celebrate the difference they make every day.”

Each educator award recognizes “excellence, leadership, innovation, and the ability to inspire and support both students and peers,” read a release from the school district. “Chatham County Schools congratulates all honorees and thanks them for their continued dedication to fostering student success and strengthening the community.”
