In preparations for an upcoming exhibit, the Orange County Historical Museum in Hillsborough is seeking some help from the community.

The museum recently put out a call for clothing, photos and objects from the county that are dated between 1900 and 1999. The exhibit is titled Date Night: Orange County Fashion, Food, Music, and Fun and is set to run from April through September. It will depict the types of clothing people wore on dates, the meals they ate, where they ate them, what music they listened to and what they did on that date.

The Orange County Historical Museum was founded by the Hillsborough Garden Club in 1957, and in 2007 it merged with the Hillsborough Historical Society to form the Historical Foundation of Hillsborough and Orange County–a non-profit organization.

For those looking to share stories or artifacts for potential display, contact the museum’s Exhibits and Programs Coordinator Courtney Smith at programs@orangehistorync.org or call 919-732-2201.

Currently, the museum is open to the public for timed visitation from 11-4 each Friday through Sunday. All guests must reserve their one-hour time slot in advance, and anyone over the age of five must wear a mask or face covering to enter.
