UNC is inviting tennis players of all skill levels to come out and play a few rounds of doubles Saturday to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill.

The Game Set Benefit 2014, organized by UNC Club Tennis, will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Cobb Courts at the North Campus Recreation Complex on Cobb Drive.

And when organizers say “all skill levels,” they mean it. You’re not even required to own a tennis racquet to participate in the tournament. Here’s organizer Roxanne Henshall from UNC Club Tennis:

“You can play with a guy or a girl,” says Henshall. “So, mixed-doubles or same-sex doubles. And it’s really just supposed to be a day of fun.”

Not only is it a day of fun, but also – prizes. Gift cards for winners have been donated by local businesses including Massage Envy, Mediterranean Deli, and The Loop. And you get a T-shirt just for signing up.

The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill provides families from out of town accommodations and services while their loved ones are being treated at UNC Hospital.

Henshall says that last year’s event included about 25 doubles teams. She’s hoping to do even better this year.

“We made just under two thousand dollars,” she says, “and we’re looking to make that, obviously, as high as possible.”
