The Town of Hillsborough has plans in motion to replace its water payment system FATHOM by March 1.

FATHOM was introduced in November 2017 and came with its fair share of difficulties, including getting residents set up for automatic bill payment.

Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens says that while specific information on the new provider is not yet available, the transition is underway.

“We sort of to the message right away that we could do better, so I expect within the next two months we will be switching,” says Stevens. “Right now we seem to be on schedule to be using a new billing system beginning March 1.”

Prior to deciding to make the switch, the town worked closely with FATHOM to attempt to troubleshoot the issues users were experiencing.

Stevens says that much work has been done behind the scenes on the project and additional information will be coming soon.

“Of course, there will be some wrapping up and some organization to do, look for additional information coming out in the next few weeks about that,” says Stevens.

The last payments to FATHOM will be made in February.
