The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) earned three awards from the Partnership for Safe Water in June: 10-Year Excellence in Water Treatment and the Five- and 10-Year Awards for Distribution System Operations in 2022.

“OWASA is passionate about the partnership and the positive impacts it has had on operational performance,” read a release from the company.

The water treatment award recognizes OWASA’s success in optimizing drinking water treatment processes to go above and beyond standards mandated by the state of North Carolina and the EPA for 10 consecutive years.

The distribution system operations awards are given to systems that “successfully completed self-assessment and continuous improvement planning while demonstrating and maintaining outstanding performance and commitment to the community,” according to the release.

“Participating in the Partnership for Safe Water and earning these awards demonstrates to our community that we are going the extra mile and performing well amongst our peers,” said OWASA general manager Mary Darr.

OWASA has participated in the Partnership for Safe Water program since 2002.
