The Chatham County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public comment on a feasibility study currently being conducted for the construction of trails along the Haw River. The land-based trails would run along the river from the Alamance County border to Jordan Lake. The study, being conducted with the Triangle J Council of Governments and Alta Planning + Design, is also seeking to identify opportunities for a paddle trail along the river in Chatham County.

The study is currently in the public input phase, and the county is seeking public opinions on destinations, routes, trail features or potential barriers to trail development. The county has released an interactive map where Chatham residents can drop pins, draw lines and leave comments. Comments can be made anonymously.

The map will be available online until the late spring or early summer, when a draft of the study will be released. That draft will be available for public review and comment as well.
