Chapel Hill Fire officials are investigating a fire that occurred at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen on Friday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to the scene around 1 p.m. Friday and smoke was pouring from the building on East Franklin Street. The fire was under control within 30 minutes.
Contractors were in the area working to restore power to the building after storms rolled through Chapel Hill on Thursday. Crews reported seeing smoke coming from the building “soon after power was restored,” officials said in a release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire response forced the closure of East Franklin Street for a portion of Friday afternoon.
