As the future Orange County Library extension and town offices continue construction at 203 South Greensboro Street, Carrboro’s local government is warning residents of the latest rounds of road closures near the project.
During the town’s monthly update shared on Tuesday, Carrboro officials said road work is set to begin on Monday, April 15 on Roberson Street and South Greensboro Street as AT&T installs new conduit for the building. The project will cause “daily, temporary street closures” of Roberson between Maple Avenue and South Greensboro Street, according to the town, while South Greensboro will also experience occasional lane closures.
The AT&T conduit work is expected to take a month to complete, according to the Town of Carrboro.
Tuesday’s monthly update shared the latest timeline for construction of The 203 Project, which broke ground in 2022 and represents a $42 million effort for the Carrboro and Orange County governments. The building construction is expected to be finished in the “late summer,” said the town release, although an opening date “has not yet been determined” since furniture and library supplies will still need to be moved in.

Between April and May, contractors are still working to install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sprinkler components as well as interior walls, insulation, and light fixtures. Tuesday’s town update said contractors finished roofing work, interior stair installation, and the exterior bricks for the building over the course of March.
Past updates regarding the 203 Project construction have been shared by the Town of Carrboro here.
