Planners at UNC-Chapel Hill are taking advantage of the post-graduation lull by executing a utility improvement plan that will affect South Road for months.

A portion of that road between Raleigh Street and Stadium Drive will remain closed to traffic from May 15 to August 04 while construction in the vicinity takes place.

According to a news release from the university, motorists should exercise caution and observe detour signs as contractors work through the summer.

Bus riders are also advised to plan for delays, as all routes set by Chapel Hill Transit and GoTriangle that follow South Street have been modified.

A compendium of detour maps and information relating to the plan has been made available by UNC Parking & Transportation at move.unc.edu/news.
