The owner of a downtown Chapel Hill restaurant is reportedly facing charges of writing thousands of dollars’ worth of bad checks in Guilford County.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said Anthony Knotts, 52, was arrested on March 2 on criminal contempt. According to the News & Record of Greensboro, Knotts missed several court dates earlier in 2022 for failing to pay back old loans. WXII News in Greensboro reports in late February, Knotts was also arrested for issuing “worthless checks totaling over $18,000.” Knotts later posted bail, but was arrested and returned to jail for his missed court dates.

Knotts is the owner of Seafood Destiny, a Greensboro-based restaurant that opened a second location in December on the corner of Franklin and Columbia Streets in Chapel Hill. Formerly a pastor, Knotts says the restaurant was born in his backyard before transitioning to a popular food truck.
WXII reports Knotts is currently in custody in Guilford County and that his next court date is set for Monday, March 14.
