CHAPEL HILL -Chapel Hill Police are searching for suspects involved in an armed robbery Sunday afternoon in Meadowmont Village.

Sergeant Josh Mecimore says two males robbed a Meadowmont resident at gun point 2:23 p.m. The victim, who was a female, was walking home from Harris Teeter on Spaight Alley. She was not injured in the incident.

The suspects demanded her purse and other personal items including her wedding ring.

The suspects were between the ages of 20 to 25—both wearing dark hoodies. The first suspect, who carried the hand gun, was about 5 foot 5 inches tall; the second suspect was 6 foot 1.

“It looks like the two suspects got into a gold SUV driven by a third person. The suspects then drove away. It was driven by a male as well,” Mecimore said.

The CHPD believes this was an isolated incident.

“I can’t recall anything that this happening during the middle of the day and in a fairly populated area,” he said.
