Meadowmont Village in Chapel Hill will be adding a new restaurant to its selection of businesses this spring.

Local chef and restaurant owner Brandon Sharp plans to open his second restaurant, called Bluebird, in the spring of 2022. Set to be a French bistro, Bluebird will occupy the space previously home to Café Carolina.

Sharp also runs and owns Hawthorne & Wood in Chapel Hill, which is a neighborhood restaurant with an upscale menu located in the East 54 development. A UNC alumnus, Sharp moved back to Chapel Hill in 2016 after honing his cooking skills in Napa Valley and New Orleans.

A release shared with Chapelboro on Thursday revealed Bluebird aims to present “true Gallic style” of French cuisine, with Sharp’s training in classic French technique at The French Laundry in California setting the basis for the venture. Sharp, who is also known for his prior stint at the Carolina Inn, is planning the menu to feature French dishes like salade lyonnaise, sole véronique, and roast chicken with black truffle. The drink selections will also primarily feature French wines, ciders and cocktails.

According to the restaurant, Bluebird’s seating will feature both a main dining room and a private area, as well as an outdoor veranda and a copper-topped bar.

Once open, Bluebird will operate for dinner seven nights a week, while also serving lunch on Fridays and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Sharp spoke with 97.9 The Hill in 2019 about his love for the Chapel Hill area. To listen back, click here.
