A 69-year-old Durham County man is in custody after reportedly shooting his son-in-law on Sunday night.
A release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Gabriel Rangel Tapia has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Around 10:30 Sunday night, sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call on Claudia Court, near the Durham-Orange county line. When they arrived, deputies say they found Rangel in the street, being detained by family members, and a victim on the porch with multiple bullet wounds.
Family members say they took a handgun from Rangel, who is the victim’s father-in-law.
Rangel is now in custody on $100,000 bond, with a first court appearance set for 2 p.m. Monday. The victim is currently hospitalized, with no official word on his condition.
