Orange County authorities arrested a man in connection with a shooting at a mobile home park, as well as in Knightdale.
Travis Locklear was apprehended by authorities on Old Greensboro Highway near the White Cross Fire Station at 1:45 Wednesday morning. Locklear, who was wanted in connection with a shooting in Knightdale, also shot into a dwelling in the Spring Hill Mobile Home Park off Old Greensboro Highway. No one was hurt at the second location.
According to authorities, a deputy responding to the mobile home park after receiving a call about gun shots in the neighborhood saw the suspect’s vehicle leaving the park. After trying to stop the vehicle, the deputy discontinued pursuit as the driver sped towards Alamance County at over 100 miles per hour.
As the deputy was returning to the mobile home park, Wake County officials broadcast a warning for Travis Locklear — the same name given by the person who reported the shots fired call in Orange County. The call warned that Locklear was armed and had just shot a man in Knightdale.
At that time, Orange Communications (911) received a call about a car in a ditch which matched the description of the car leaving Spring Hill. The driver had fled the scene on foot, but was taken into custody by deputies without further incident.
