UPDATE: On Friday, August 26, investigators identified the victim was Nicholas Frank. Hillsborough Police are offering a reward for information on his death.


The Hillsborough Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting of a teenager at an apartment complex from Wednesday night.

A release from the department Thursday morning said officers responded to a shooting incident around 9:30 p.m. at Bellevue Mill Apartments, located at 206 South Nash Street. Upon arrival, officers found a a 17-year-old male dead in the parking lot.

According to Hillsborough Police, witnesses said they saw a white sedan leaving the area around the time of the shooting, driving south at “a high rate of speed.”

A spokesperson for the police department said because the victim was a juvenile, they are not going to release their name. Hillsborough Police said in its release that the person’s family was notified. The police department said it does not believe the shooting was random or the broader safety of the community is at risk.

Authorities are asking anyone who was in the area of South Nash Street Wednesday night and may have information about the shooting incident to contact Hillsborough Police investigator Andrew Jones.
