The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man following the discovery of several drugs during a traffic stop early Friday morning.

Aaron Hersey, a Hillsborough resident, claimed responsibility for multiple substances and drug paraphernalia detected by a K9 unit during a routine stop near N.C. Highway 86 and Interstate 85. The sheriff’s office reported seizing 150 grams of heroin/fentanyl from Hersey’s vehicle, which had two other passengers in it at the time of the stop.

Orange County authorities leveled a dozen charges against Hersey on Friday, including three counts of trafficking opium or heroin by transport, manufacture and possession, felony possession of a schedule II substance and possession with intent to sell and deliver counterfeit controlled substances.

The magistrate in Hillsborough set Hersey’s bond at $250,000. He appeared in Orange County court Friday afternoon on the charges.
