NORTH CHATHAM COUNTY – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Department needs your help finding two armed men wanted for robbing a PNC Bank Friday morning.
“Two white males wearing Halloween masks entered the bank—both of them displaying a handgun,” Chatham County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Maynor says. “One suspect was wearing a blue and black plaid shirt, blue jeans, and blue gloves; the other suspect was wearing an NC State hoodie, blue jeans, and blue gloves as well—like rubber gloves. Both of them left on foot.”

A search of the area was conducted and a reverse 911 Code Red alert was sent out to nearby businesses and residents warning people in the area of the robbery. Willow Oak Montessori School and Carolina Meadows are in the immediate area and were locked down soon after the 911 call was receive.
A money bag was found nearby, but the search—including the help of a Carrboro Police K-9 unit—came up empty.
“I can’t elaborate to the amount of money or if any money was in the bag,” Lt. Maynor says.
Lt. Maynor says the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, NC State Highway Patrol, Chapel Hill Police, and Carrboro Police were all notified of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department at 919-542-2811 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-6116.
