UNC Police have received a report of an alleged incident of drink tampering and physical assault at 216 East Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill, which is the location of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house. The alleged incident took place on August 26.
Alert Carolina sent a notification of the report on Thursday afternoon.
Drink tampering is classified as aggravated assault under the Clery Act. According to the Alert Carolina notification, two people’s drinks were tampered with, and one of those individuals later reported a physical assault.
The university encourages anyone who sees drink tampering to report the activity as soon as possible. The UNC Police Department is available 24 hours a day by calling 911 or 919-962-8100. UNC’s Public Safety Building is located at 285 Manning Drive.
UNC also recommends individuals always pour their own drinks, confirm the contents of the drink before doing so and keep the drink with them at all times. If the drink tastes strange, it is recommended to stop drinking immediately.
