Chapel Hill Police identified 23-year-old Zackary Richard Upton as the victim in last week’s shooting. Upton, police said in an update on Monday, is continuing to recover at UNC Hospitals and is in fair condition.

Upton was struck once after police said multiple shots were fired at the 1701 North Apartments complex on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard just before 11 p.m. last Wednesday.

Police said initially that they believed “this is an isolated incident and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.”

Authorities said on Monday that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Chapel Hill Police at (919) 968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at (919) 942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
