Authorities said that 19-year-old Jataveon Dashawn Hall left UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill Friday evening, “against medical advice.” Hall initially went to the UNC Hospital campus in Hillsborough “requesting treatment for an injury to the head.” He was transferred to the hospitals campus in Chapel Hill “due to the severity of Hall’s wound.” But Hall left the hospital Friday evening. A nurse found his room empty and security tape showed Hall leaving the hospital while still wearing a hospital gown.

Hall is one of three suspects accused in connection to a break-in at a home in Mebane on Friday morning. An 11-year-old boy was home at the time, law enforcement officials said Friday.

The sheriff’s office reported Hall, who had the homeowner’s pellet rifle, forced the boy into a closet. The juvenile then escaped the closet and hit Hall in the back of the head with a machete. The three suspects then allegedly fled the scene.

Warrants have been taken out by investigators charging Hall with breaking and entering, second-degree kidnapping, interfering with emergency communications and assault on a child under 12.

Hall is described as roughly 6 feet tall and estimated to weigh 135 pounds. A bandage was wrapped around his head when Hall left the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Hall or regarding the incident is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 245-2900 or to call 911.
