The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation on Tuesday morning after a 911 call about a potential murder-suicide.

The office shared a release saying emergency communications received a call at 9:17 a.m. from a man who said he shot his wife and planned to later shoot himself. Sheriff deputies later located two deceased people in a vehicle on Rippy Lane, a residential road off Old North Carolina Highway 86 and south of Hillsborough town limits.

On Wednesday, the office told Chapelboro the pair have been identified as 77-year-old William Flinn and 71-year-old Lisa Flinn, each of Orange Grove Road. Sheriff deputies have reportedly notified the family.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in its release the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no ongoing risk to the community. Sergeant Dylan Hendricks is the lead investigator from the office. If anyone has any information about this case, they are encouraged to call him at 919-245-2951.

“This is a tragic situation, as is any loss of life,” Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a message. “We feel great sadness for the family members of Mr. and Mrs. Flinn. We hope community members will allow them privacy as they process their loss.”
