A man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a longtime friend in the face in Orange County last week.

Authorities said Tuesday that 36-year-old Jermaine Andrew Ramsey was arrested on Saturday in Guilford County at Piedmont Triad International Airport and charged with a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Officials from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that Ramsey is accused of shooting “a longtime friend on his,” 42-year-old Jarrid Brooks, early last Thursday morning on Rencher Street just outside of the Hillsborough town limits.

Brooks “is recovering from a .40 caliber gunshot wound to the face,” according to the sheriff’s office. “Investigators believe Ramsey shot Brooks after an argument escalated.”

Ramsey was given a $200,000 bond, according to law enforcement, and he is scheduled to be back in Orange County court on October 7.
