UNC alumna and CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin has been diagnosed with coronavirus, she announced via an Instagram post.
“I’ve tested positive for coronavirus,” Baldwin wrote. “I am OKAY. It came on suddenly yesterday afternoon. Chills, aches, fever. I’ve been social distancing. Doing ALL the things we’re being told to do. Still — it got me.”
Baldwin also wrote that she has no underlying conditions. She is the second CNN anchor to be diagnosed with coronavirus, joining Chris Cuomo who announced he had the virus on Tuesday.
“Honestly, I feel like one of the lucky ones. I look forward to being back on [television] and seeing you real soon,” Baldwin wrote. “And shout out to the doctors and nurses who are doing the real work right now.”
Baldwin graduated from the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media in 2001 and was hired at CNN in 2008. She returned to Chapel Hill in 2017 to give the commencement speech at graduation and hosted the 2019 Late Night with Roy event with fellow UNC alum Ashlyn Harris.
