A new craft beer market will open in Chapel Hill’s Blue Hill District on Friday.
The Casual Pint announced it is opening a new location on Elliott Road. Beginning Friday, the store will offer 35 beers and four wines on tap, craft sodas, more than 200 singles for mix-a-six packs, growlers, crowlers, kegs and made-to-order food. The taps will feature a rotating variety of local Triangle breweries, seasonal drafts and elections from nationally known breweries.
Bill Darragh, owner of the location and a Chapel Hill resident, says the goal is to bring a relaxed atmosphere to the area that emphasizes the local craft beer scene.
“We’ve built The Casual Pint to be the neighborhood gathering spot that has something for everyone,” he says. “People can stop in to get their favorite beer to go, meet their friends to watch a game or catch up over a cold one.”
The Casual Pint franchise was founded in 2011 by Nathan and Jon Robinette, a father-and-son team in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2014, they began franchising and now have more than two dozen stores located across 12 states, including stores in Asheville and Charlotte.
After a 20-year career working for distributors, Darragh says he’s excited to combine his professional experience with some of his personal passions.
“What I love about beer is how it brings people together,” says Darragh. “I’m looking forward to meeting more of our neighbors and providing a unique space that invites people to connect and unwind.”
The Casual Pint is celebrating its grand opening with a celebration held from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday. The first 50 guests will receive a free growler.
