Carrboro residents who appreciate Mexican food and craft beer have two new reasons to celebrate as South Green, a shopping center under construction near the intersection of NC Highway 54 and S Greensboro St, continues to attract new tenants.

The Atlas Taco Bar and Gimghoul Brewery have signed leases with Avison Young, a real estate firm providing leasing services for the 45,000-square-foot development, and will open with South Green in 2018.

Community-minded residents will be pleased to know that both businesses are the brainchildren of Carrboro locals. Brewers at Gimghoul have crafted their signature ales within city limits since 2015, and the head chef of Acme Food and Beverage Co, Kevin Callaghan, will lend his nationally recognized culinary flair to the Atlas Taco Bar.

Construction at South Green is scheduled to resume in June of 2017 after the replacement of an asbestos-laden stormwater pipe. Development of this multi-building project is expected to last an additional 18 to 22 months.
