Kipos Greek Taverna has finally revealed where it will relocate.
The popular Greek restaurant is moving to the Eastgate Crossing Shopping Center in Chapel Hill at 1800 East Franklin Street, in the former space operated by Babalu.
“While Franklin Street has been a beautiful place to call home for over seven years, our decision to move aligns with better business practices in this new age of hospitality,” explained owner Giorgios Bakatsias in a release.
Bakatsias announced in April Kipos would be moving spaces after spending seven years on West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.
“This is an especially ideal location for Kipos – which means ‘garden’ – because of the lush garden patio surrounding the restaurant,” explained Bakatsias. “We can’t wait to celebrate life together with the rich Greek food of our heritage prepared by my sister, Chef Olga Bakatsias, on this gorgeous garden patio.”
Guests at the new location at Eastgate Crossing can expect Kipos’ signature, authentic Greek menu, as well as a convivial Mediterranean setting.
“Once the interior up-fit and garden are reflective of the Kipos we know and love, and the business climate conducive to success, we will look forward to reopening and welcoming back our beloved community.”
Giorgios Hospitality & Lifestyle Group also owns the Chapel Hill-based restaurants City Kitchen American Brasserie, Bin 54 Steak & Cellar and Village Burgers.
