Recently, inflation for the price of food, fuel and other staples hit a record 30-year high. Inflation corresponds to a decrease in purchasing power. When the price of a good increases, the purchasing power of the dollar can buy fewer goods and services. Duke University economists recently discussed the causes of inflation from pandemic relief and how it can affect a day-to-day life.

Proposed Porthole Alley Redevelopment Plans Preserve Carolina Coffee Shop

UNC held public information sessions about the Porthole Alley redevelopment project this week. Porthole Alley is located where the UNC Campus meets Downtown Chapel Hill. It encompasses 128 East Franklin Street through 144 East Franklin Street and includes businesses like Johnny T-shirt, Cosmic Cantina and Carolina Coffee Shop. Project planners say the proposal aims to strengthen the economic vitality of Downtown Chapel Hill and have more university programming.
