The Mexico and Türkiye men’s soccer national teams will square off in Chapel Hill Tuesday night for an international friendly, as both teams tune up before major competitions.
Mexico is coming off a slugging 2-1 loss to Switzerland in Utah on Saturday, while the Turks will look to improve upon their 2-1 defeat of the U.S. national team in Connecticut. The matchup is the first meeting between the two football federations in men’s soccer — and marks the third consecutive summer the UNC campus and Kenan Stadium will host international soccer on its pitch.
Tickets to the exhibition are still available as of Monday night, but if you’re planning on watching the match elsewhere, here’s what to know on how to follow along:
Television Channels
Mexico’s national team has a broadcasting partnership with Univision, meaning the men’s soccer games can be found on its network of channels. For Tuesday night’s game, that includes TUDN USA — a sports channel for Spanish-speaking countries and coverage.
TV Schedule
Broadcast coverage of Mexico vs. Türkiye is expected to begin around 8:30 p.m. Kickoff may begin later, closer to 9 p.m.
What if I don’t have cable?
Univision allows subscribers to access games through their websites, like Univision NOW, TUDN.com and the TUDN app.
Additionally, Univision channels can be part of packages through cord-cutting options like DirecTV Stream, YouTube TV, Hulu Live TV, FuboTV and Sling TV. Some may allow free trials before moving to a monthly subscription.
Where can I watch the game in town?
The greater Chapel Hill community has several special events in the lead-up to Tuesday’s friendly, as well as businesses holding watch parties or offering specials related to Mexico vs. Türkiye. The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau compiled a list of options here, with parking and transit details available here.
