Christopher Lunsford of Chapel Hill won the $100,000 top prize in a second chance lottery drawing Wednesday. Lunsford’s win came in the third and final Money Rush Second Chance drawing, for which there were more than 7.7 million entries.
Lunsford collected his winnings at lottery headquarters Thursday. After required federal and state taxes, Lunsford will take home $70,582. He said he plans to use his winnings to give to his church and potentially buy a home.

Players got a second chance with their Money Rush scratch-offs by scanning them into their accounts, which automatically enters them into the drawing. There are 10 $10,000 prizes and 15 $5,000 prizes along with Lunsford’s top prize of $100,000.
Proceeds from games like Money Rush and others offered by the North Carolina Education Lottery raised nearly $8 million for education programs in Orange County last year.
