With the start of football season rapidly approaching, and other sports already underway, UNC announced its COVID protocols for all 2021-22 athletic events Thursday.
Vaccination is strongly encouraged but not required to attend an event.
For all indoor events, such as basketball games in the Dean Smith Center and Carmichael Arena, the university will require masks to be worn above the mouth and nose at all times, except when the wearer is actively eating or drinking.
Masks are strongly encouraged but not required for outdoor events. Fans attending outdoor events must wear masks whenever they step into an indoor space, such as the Blue Zone in Kenan Stadium or a restroom. For football games, complimentary masks can be found at Fan Services stations at Gate 2 or Gate 6. Hand sanitizer will also be available at the stadium.
Full capacity will be allowed at all events, though fans using elevators are asked to only use the elevator with their traveling party.
As with last season, all transactions will be digital, so no cash will be accepted at any UNC venue. Digital tickets and parking passes can be accessed on the GoHeels app. Concessions can be ordered via the app. The clear bag policy remains the same as in past seasons.
