All four incoming Tar Heels for head coach Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program were selected Monday to the 2021 Jordan Brand Classic Girls National Team.
UNC boasts the No. 2 recruiting class in the country thanks to Destiny Adams, Teonni Key, Kayla McPherson and Morasha Wiggins–who were among 30 players selected to the Jordan Brand Classic.
The Tar Heels tied national powerhouse UCONN as the only teams with four players selected.
Adams and Key are both 6-foot-3-inch wing players, while McPherson and Wiggins will join former five-star recruit Deja Kelly in the backcourt.
This marks the 20th year of the Jordan Brand Classic, but also the second year in a row where no official game is held due to the pandemic.
“This is entirely a merit-based opportunity, which only 30 players nation-wide have earned,” Banghart said. “All four of these special people have had brilliant high school and club careers and we are grateful to have them represent both North Carolina and the Jordan Brand! The entire Tar Heel family is eager to have Des, Teonni, Kayla, and Mo in Carolina blue very soon.”
