Head coach Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball team are officially going dancing in Texas, as the Tar Heels earned an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament on Monday.

UNC was given a No. 10 seed in the Hemisfair Region and will take on No. 7 seed Alabama in San Antonio next Monday at noon.

The Tar Heels (13-10) and Crimson Tide (16-9) played one another last season, with Alabama winning 83-77 in Tuscaloosa on Dec. 15, 2019.

Should UNC win its opening round game, it’ll likely move on to face No. 2 seed Maryland–a team that has gone 24-2 to this point in the year.

This also marks UNC’s first NCAA Tournament appearance under Banghart, and the program’s 28th appearance all-time.

“We’re so excited to know that this challenging season will end in the NCAA Tournament, which has been our goal all along,” Banghart said. “This group has worked hard and continued to improve all year, and we’re grateful to head for Texas and keep playing.”
