IZA Whiskey & Eats, which describes itself as serving “Japanese fusion style cuisine,” is officially open in downtown Carrboro.

Located at 370 East Main Street in Carrboro, IZA Whiskey & Eats opened with a limited menu on the week of Thanksgiving but has since shifted to being fully open.

IZA Whiskey & Eats moved into the space formerly occupied by One Fish Two Fish, a poke restaurant which closed in the past year.

Per the restaurant’s website, IZA Whiskey & Eats was founded by Yung Nay “as part of a lifelong dream to bring fare to the community that could be enjoyed for any occasion.”

IZA Whiskey & Eats opens at a precarious time for restaurants due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Within Chapel Hill and Orange County, several restaurants have shut their doors due to the pandemic — including longtime staples like Elmo’s Diner and Ye Olde Waffle Shoppe.

Other restaurant have used the opportunity to open — including Market and Moss in Southern Village and Blue’s on Franklin further down on Franklin Street.
