A new restaurant has opened in the space previously occupied by Moe’s Southwest Grill on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.
Blue’s on Franklin Street — which is billed as being owned and operated by “three generations of Tar Heels” — has officially opened at 110 West Franklin Street.
The restaurant serves North Carolina barbecue, which its website claims the recipes for which are over 150 years old.
Prior to housing Moe’s, the 110 West Franklin Street location had been home to a Caribou Coffee shop and a Pizza Hut franchise. The building has been on the historic street since 1937 and was previously a pure oil and gas station.
The opening of Blue’s on Franklin comes at a time when some other businesses on Franklin Street have decided to close their doors due to the ongoing pandemic.
In addition to Moe’s, Lotsa Stone Fired Pizza, Lula’s Fried Chicken, and Ms Mong announced the difficulties of operating during the pandemic led them to permanently close their doors.
