The Town of Hillsborough is looking for community feedback on a series of designs for a new town logo.

The town shared a release on Wednesday saying it has been working to refresh its brand by working with a graphic designer over the last few months, developing logo options that all reflect Hillsborough’s character. Community members can submit input through an engagement platform called Polco, which the town plans to use in the future to gather responses on other topics regarding government services.

The Town of Hillsborough says the selected logo will replace a graphic used since 1994.

The four logo options are as follows:

  1. A reworking of the clock tower that has been a symbol of Hillsborough for many years.
  2. A symbol of the quatrefoil derived from the town seal and from the coat of arms of the earl of Hillsborough, an Irish peer for whom the town was renamed in 1766.
  3. The Riverwalk greenway built by Hillsborough and now an area attraction.
  4. The front façade of Town Hall, which was built around 1821 and has been used as the center of town government since the 1970s.

The Economic Development Planner of Hillsborough, Shannan Campbell, said the town is looking forward to changing up their logo.

“We’re excited to update the town’s logo to something with clean lines that captures the small-town charm of Hillsborough,” Campbell said. “We want to use the new logo to continue to create a sense of place within our town.”

The Town of Hillsborough will continue accepting responses on their new logo through 5 p.m. on February 26.

Further community input will be provided to the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners at its March 9 meeting, where a vote on a final selection may also take place.
