An Orange County woman has been arrested after allegedly ramming the vehicle of an animal control officer who was trying to remove a dog from her home.
Officials from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday evening that an animal control officer went to the home of 49-year-old Lisa Ann Bryant on Jay Circle in Hillsborough to seize a dog after it allegedly bit a child last week. Bryant then attempted to back her vehicle down the driveway, but she was blocked by a sheriff’s deputy and the animal control officer.
The deputy “reached into the truck attempting to turn it off,” according to law enforcement, when Bryant continued down the driveway and “rammed her vehicle into the animal control truck several times.”
Neither the deputy nor the animal control officer was injured.
Bryant complained of chest pains once placed into custody, according to the sheriff’s office, and was treated and released from UNC Hospital in Hillsborough.
Bryant was charged with a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, resisting a public officer and injury to personal property in excess of $200. Bryant was given a $1,000 secured bond and is scheduled to make her first appearance in Orange County Court on Monday afternoon.
