Bluegrass lovers far and wide are invited to Pittsboro on Sunday, November 11, for “Pickin’: A Music Celebration!”

The Bluegrass Experience

The event is being held at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center, and is the annual benefit for Chatham Arts Council’s Artists-in-Schools. Student from Chatham Central’s chorus will be performing, as will the “Ukulele Kids” of Clapping Hands Farm – but the cherry on top this year is the 47th anniversary of Chatham County’s own The Bluegrass Experience!

Members of The Bluegrass Experience past and present will be getting together on stage, including the one-and-only Tommy Edwards (who also just so happens to be a retired Chatham County school teacher!). The Experience will be led by guitarist Edwards playing alongside Mike Aldridge on the mandolin, Stan Brown on banjo, bassist Thomas “Snuffy” Smith, and Keith Thomas on fiddle.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the CAC’s Artists-in-Schools Initiative, a program that has been bringing professional artists into schools to support math, science, language and history programs. Tickets to the event can be purchased here, and are all-inclusive with food, beer and wine provided by Carolina Brewery. The cost is $50 for adults, $20 for children ages three to 18, and free to children two and under. Doors for Pickin’ will open at 4:00 pm, with the concert following at 5:00 pm.
