The Orange County Board of Elections has laid out a timeline for this year’s municipal elections.

Early voting will open on October 19 at the Orange County Board of Elections office and on October 23 at the Carrboro Town Hall, Seymour Senior Center and Chapel of the Cross.

Early voting will end on November 4, and Election Day is set for November 7.

Early voting will run from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. at the Board of Elections office, and from 12 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the rest of the locations.

Chapel of the Cross will be closed Saturday, October 28, for the UNC football game and all sites will close at 5 P.M. on Tuesday, October 31, for Halloween.

Voters are able to register and vote on the same day at early voting. To vote on Election Day, residents must have registered by October 13.

Voting hours on Election Day start at 6:30 A.M. and end at 7:30 P.M.

Director of the Orange County Board of Elections Tracy Reams expects to see a large turnout for this year’s municipal elections.

“I’m hoping we’re going to be busy,” said Reams. “I like to see opposition out there because that’s what brings our voters out. As we get closer, I guess we’ll probably get a good feel for it during early voting.”

Positions that are open include three seats on the Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools Board of Education, Mayor of Carrboro, four seats on the Carrboro Board of Aldermen, Mayor of Chapel Hill, four seats on Chapel Hill’s Town Council, Mayor of Hillsborough, two seats on Hillsborough’s Town Commissioners and three seats on Mebane’s City Council.
