Stacey Yusko has made her last official delivery as the executive director of Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels after completing two decades of service with the program.
Her retirement ceremony is scheduled for the end of this month, whereupon Twanna Joyner Jones will assume the office from which Yusko is departing.
Jones was selected by program officials for the role due to her prior managerial work with the American Red Cross and Area Christians Together in Service.
Her intention is to “provide a safety net of help, hope, and compassion to those in desperate need” by drawing upon her experience with nonprofit services.
The decision to retire was made by Yusko out of a desire to spend more time with her family, but she also affirmed her intention to continue making deliveries as a volunteer.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels has provided supplementary nutrition and personal visits to elderly and infirmed residents in the area for nearly four decades.
