The Orange County Board of Education has voted to approve Dr. Chris Gammon as the new principal of Gravelly Hill Middle School.
Gammon comes from the Mooresville Graded School District where he is currently serving as principal at Mooresville Intermediate School.
Before becoming Principal at Mooresville Intermediate, Gammon was an assistant principal and teacher within the Mooresville school district.
Gammon earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Guilford College, his Master’s Degree at Michigan State University and his Doctorate at Wingate University.
“I believe in the vision of Orange County Schools, and this is a great place to lay down roots,” Gammon said in a release. He added he was drawn to the district for the opportunities it presents. “From a professional and personal point of view, Gravelly Hill is place where we can have great impact and the community is a place where I ‘d like to raise my children.”
This move continues administrative reshuffling in Orange County Schools. Jason Johnson is moving from Principal of Orange High School to serve as the director of secondary education for the school district. Johnson is being replaced at Orange High by Eric Yarborough, who was previously been the Principal at Gravelly Hill.
Gammon will be coming to Orange County for the 2016-2017 school year.
