A Chapel Hill man has been sentenced in connection with a December 2015 murder in Carrboro.

Carrboro Police said in a release that Tory Amyr Pope was sentenced to between 14 and 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon for the murder of 56-year-old Todd Richardson.

Authorities were called to Richardson’s apartment on NC 54 on December 26, 2015, responding to a well-being check. Police found Richardson deceased at the scene.

Police said at the time there were no signs of forced entry.
