Cedar Ridge High School is operating on a soft lockdown on Friday, school officials confirmed.

The move was made as school leadership is “erring on the side of caution” after officials confirmed a threat of a school shooting was made on Thursday afternoon.

Officials say the threat was investigated and no credible information was found that a shooting would be carried out.

The soft lockdown essentially means that students are not allowed out of classrooms by themselves throughout the day. Students must be escorted by a staff member if they leave the classroom.

Officials say there will also be heavier security at the school throughout the day.

Officials say the move to operate on a soft lockdown was made out of an abundance of caution and that there is no known credible threat to the school.
