Legacies of Love Poetry Reading and Community Discussion

Golden Fig will be holding a poetry reading and community discussion event. Rinah Rachel Galper, Allison Davidson, and Liz Evans will be reading from their poetry collection, Legacies of Love. Afterwards, they will be leading a discussion. For more information, click here.

Maize Craze at Cane Creek Farm
Thursday, October 16; Friday, October 17; Saturday, October 18; Sunday, October 19, all day

Starting this Friday and continuing through October, Cane Creek Farm will host its first annual Maize Craze. Explore a maze in the shape of a celtic cross carved into an 11-acre corn field. Noir at the Bar

Noir at the Bar is back at Yonder this Thursday. It’s a live literary reading that brings together bestselling authors, emerging voices, and lovers of stories, language, and community. 3 Degrees of Separation and the Makers Studio

This weekend at the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts they will be having another exhibition, Three Degrees of Separation with art from Selden Lamoureux, Cat Mahin, and Steven Ferlauto. There will be pottery jars, surreal clock paintings, and scrolls of sacred geometry. For more information, click here.

“My Father’s Name” Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Friday, October 17 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church is holding a Film Screening and Panel Discussion of the film “My Father’s Name.” It’s the story of Jan, who, years after her father Lee Ed Frazier’s death, finds out he participated in a lynching. He was never named nor punished for it. Jan reckons with the reflection and brutality of white privilege and conflicting feelings about the father she loved, while finding ways to hold her family accountable. Blue Box Theatre Presents: Frankenstein

Come out this weekend for Blue Box Theatre’s presentation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, written by award-winning playwright Chella Anderson. The new adaption explores self-creation, the societal costs of living authentically, and the personal costs of living inauthentically. Great Trails State Day 2025 Hike

This weekend, the Orange County Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation will be holding a great trails state day hike. The hike will be along the Seven Mile Creek Natural Area and it will focus on the history of Seven Mile and other natural heritage areas in Orange County. For more information, click here.

Monet Richardson Community Foundation Halloween Car Wash at Dunkin

Get your car washed this weekend and support a great cause! The Monet Richardson Community Foundation is holding their annual Halloween Car Wash at the Dunkin’ on Franklin. The MRCF is a dedicated student-led organization focused on providing its members with invaluable opportunities to serve the community. The Haunting Hour

This weekend, the Hillsborough Visitors Center will be having The Haunting Hour. It will be an immersive evening of storytelling where ghostly tales and eerie legends unfold around you with a performance at the historic Hughes Academy. Nasher Museum of Art 20th Anniversary Community Celebration

The Nasher Museum of Art is celebrating its 20th anniversary and the grand opening of the Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Sculpture Garden this weekend. “No Kings 2” Rally to Defend Democracy
Saturday, October 18 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This Saturday, the No Kings 2 rally will be held at the Carrboro Town Commons. This public event is part of a national movement demanding accountability, free and fair elections, and a government that serves the people- not a king.The rally will gather activists, community members, and local leaders to stand united against authoritarianism and the erosion of democratic norms. Off The Wall Gala 2025
Saturday, October 18 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

This weekend, FRANK Art Gallery will be holding their Off The Wall Gala. Enjoy a night full of art and food and drinks. The gala will be emcee’d by 97.9 The Hill and Chapelboro’s own Aaron Keck.
