Open September 26th to October 31, 2025, Cane Creek Farm will host its first annual Maize Craze! We invite friends and families to explore a maze carved into an 11-acre corn field in the shape of an a-MAZE-ing Celtic cross. The event will feature live music, artisan venders, and food trucks, offering hours of entertainment for all ages. Younger children can enjoy meeting
our animals, a separate, shorter kiddie maze, hay pyramid, hula hoops and much more. For more details and a full calendar of events, visit the Cane Creek Farm website (canecreekfarmnc.org) under the Maze Craze tab.
Labyrinths and mazes have a rich history, dating back thousands of years, with medieval stone and turf labyrinths appearing in
Northern Europe between the 12th and 17th centuries, often serving as sites for walking meditation. Ancient labyrinths are also documented in Egypt and Crete. The practice of creating patterns in corn fields has roots in agrarian societies where maize was a staple crop. Today, corn mazes offer both challenging fun and a means for farmers to support their communities and attract visitors through agrotourism.
The Maize Craze at Cane Creek Farm features a single path that takes between 45 minutes and an hour to complete, with an abbreviated version available for children. Whether visited during daylight or nighttime hours, the maze provides a unique experience. The event also includes live music, square dancing, and food trucks during select times, as noted on the
event calendar.
Cane Creek Farm is located at 8262 NC Hwy 87 S, Snow Camp, NC—just minutes from Saxapahaw and within easy driving distance of Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Raleigh, Mebane, Burlington, and Siler City. The event runs on Friday – Saturday from 1pm – 10pm. Sunday 1pm – 8pm and Thursdays by appointment for groups (schools, church groups, professional teams and clubs) from September 26th to October 31st, 2025.
