The North Carolina Forward Party is holding a workshop, led by Exploring Your Creative Genius host, Carl Nordgren, to help you explore your own creative capacities and entrepreneurial instincts. The 9th annual Freight Train Blues concert series starts this weekend in Carrboro. The concert series celebrates the life and legacy of blueswoman Elizabeth “Libba” Cotten. This week’s lineup features singer-songwriter David Childers and gospel singer Thomas Rhyant. Click here for more information.

This Saturday, Bethel Baptist Church will be having a Community Tag Sale. Come out and shop pottery, plants, baked goods, and more. The sale will be every Saturday through May 13th. There are also vendor slots available if you’re interested in selling. For more information, click here.

If you’re still looking for the perfect mother’s day gift, the Inclusive Business Spring Gift Market is this Saturday. Over 15 local businesses will be selling their goods at the Blue Hill Event Center. Many of the gifts are handmade by merchants with developmental and intellectual disabilities. There’s another excellent opportunity to shop for Mother’s Day this weekend with the Knitworthy Yarns pop up. You’ll have a chance to meet Cat and Tori from Knitworthy Yarns and talk to them about the hand-dyed yarns they get from Ireland, the UK, and Virginia. Lanza’s Cafe will be holding a community recycling event this weekend. Bring out electronic and metal items you’ve been meaning to get rid of and dispose of them in Carrboro. Come out Saturday and celebrate 6 years of School of Rock Chapel Hill. Come back out Lanza’s Cafe Saturday evening to hear Dean Batten perform. Dean will be performing new songs in the folk, folk rock, country rock sounds he first embraced in his childhood. At Southern Village Friday night, the Switchyard Theater Company will be putting on their showing of Tempest about an exiled magician and her teenage daughter who live on a deserted island. For more information about the showing, click here.

Drop a line at West Point Mill this weekend. They’ll have cane fishing poles for you to check out for the afternoon while you step away from the hustle bustle at West Point on the Eno. Enjoy nature and some old-fashioned fishing this weekend.
