The U.S. Census Bureau is in search of workers for the upcoming 2020 Census and is holding recruiting events on February 19 and 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at University Place mall in Chapel Hill.
The event is hosted in partnership with NC Works, using their NC Works Mobile Bus. Orange County residents who are interested in working with the U.S. Census, while earning some extra cash, are invited to find out more information and apply for positions.
National Census Day is April 1, 2020, but hundreds of thousands of workers are hired beforehand. The Census Bureau is recruiting to fill these temporary positions across the country, including Chatham County, to assist with the 2020 Census count.
The Census pay starts at $19 per hour with weekly pay, paid training and flexible hours. Individuals driving their own private vehicles will also receive .575 mileage reimbursement. Individuals may apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs and may call 1-855-JOB-2020 for help applying.
